It is with the utmost sadness that I have to inform followers of Carmarthenshire Fungi that Tony Ivens passed away on Friday evening. He was an avid fungi grower, finder and identifier and took the science of mycology very seriously, whilst sharing his knowledge with others so generously. He will be sorely missed.
Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this sad time.
Thank you for letting us know Linda.
ReplyDeleteI've only known Tony for the past 3/4 years but in that short time I've really got to like him and I have enjoyed his company immensely, given that we've shared a fascination with fungi and I rather hoped and thought, others things too as future years rolled on. I'm so sorry for Tony, his family and friends. He'll be a great loss too to our small gang of mycophiles in Carmarthenshire but I hope his legacy, from our point of view, is that we'll remember his knowledge, curiosity and enthusiasm, and we'll use this as inspiration to inspire other future mycologists.
