Yesterday from Stradey Woods --- on the side of a deep old track were sereral groups of Scleroderma citrinum -Common Earthball but just one group of five had the 'parasitic' bolete -- Pseudoboletus parasiticus Parasitic Bolete. One had three 'boletes', two had two and two one.
Buczacki says they grow on old earthballs but these are quite young. It is also thought they are not 'parasitic' but 'symbiotic'.
B+K know of a population at the same location for 40years. I have seen some at one spot for several but not that long!
