Rooting Shank

Rooting Shank - Xerula radicata
Found in Trawscoed Wood.
Thought this could be Collybia but it is a very elegant albeit common fungi which was ID'd by Atilla Fodi and Emma Williams before I had a chance to use my new Microscope. The spores were pure white and measured 9.8 mu x 14.5 mu. This has been called many names before its present title and used to be called Collybia radicata at one time  (so I don't feel so bad with my (and Bruce's ) first guess ). Big thanks to Colin for getting me up and running with the scope.

  1. Well done Peter. I shall look forward to seeing the record appear on the NBGW iRecord site.
