Scaly Sawgill

Found on a long piece of timber at NBGW- completely dry due to the prolonged drought. Probable ID by Emma Williams as Scaly Sawgill - Neolentinus lepideus aka 'Train Wrecker' . Resistant to Tar/Creosote it attacked railway sleepers and cost millions every year to replace damaged. I tried to re-hydrate with a wet kitchen tissue overnight and did get a very feint white spore print. Tried to get enough of a sample to scope it but could not positively see any spores. Used Melzers R. and there was no change so inamyloid or no spores. No positive result but good practice. The latin translation of 'lepideus' btw is scaly.
